USA vs. TUN

Dear Web,

I named this post USA vs. TUN because that is the 2012 Olympic Basketball game that I am watching right now. It is at the very beginning of the game though so the score is close. The United States is currently in second for overall gold medals. China is first with 13 gold, 6 silver, and 4 bronze. The United States has 9 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze. The USA and China both have 23 medals in total and the closest country is France with 11. The Olympics are kind of ran by two countries huh? I’d have to say that the best moment of the 2012 Olympics for me would be the men’s cyclist road race were a virtual unknown Kazakhstan beat the United Kingdom who were suppose to control the whole race and put both of their main sprinters on the team, Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins, onto the podium but they got destroyed by an 11 man break-away. The Kazakhstan rider just out smarted his other sprinting competition and made a beautiful move to beat him by two bike lengths. Okay, that is enough Olympics.

I can’t really complain about anything in this post because detasseling is finally over. We had a 20 day season, longest I’ve ever had, and in those 20 days we had one day off and worked 156 hours. Now no matter what I will make $1,872 dollars because that is my base pay. What I don’t know is if Pioneer will give the crew a safety bonus, which Pioneer probably will because I don’t think the crew got written up for doing anything wrong. So hopefully I can get another dollar per hour or something so I can make 2 grand in one season. If I do get 2 grand that will be the first time that my bank account has seen 3 thousand dollars :) Which would make the first year of college very fun because I’ll actually have money to spend on whatever.

Speaking about college, that was a great segue, I’ve been talking to some people that are going to Hamline next year and they all seem pretty cool! I am so excited to go to college in 12 days. It is crazy to think that I will be leaving the area that I have lived in my whole life in less than two weeks. Granted I am moving to an amazing city and I will love every second that I live there but it is just kind of scary to know that I will be going from living in a town of 300 to a town of 3,000,000. Kind of a cool little fact. I wasn’t able to lift weights for basically the whole month of July because of detasseling. I mean, I still lifted at the beginning of the season when we were only doing 6-9 hour days but around the middle and the end we were doing 10-13 hour days out in the out sun and I just had no motivation once I got home to go lift weights and condition. So now that I am out of shape I am going to have to kick my own ass in order to pass the conditioning test for football next fall, which is like the second thing that we do once we are all moved in. I am very scared for the test.. If I don’t pass it does that mean that I can’t like continue practicing with them and I moved in a month early for nothing or what? I don’t know why I am asking you because you are a web blog and don’t really hold any answers.

Humm…. what else to talk about.. Random statement of fact, I don’t think there is a single white player on the USA Olympic basketball team. Just noticed that and I find it funny. I bought a new laptop. It is a Samsung 15.3″ laptop that has a graphics card and has an 8GB memory with a 750GB hard drive. That is pretty much a perfect laptop for me. I will probably use it until I can afford a new one after I graduate college and have a steady job and all that jazz. Wow, that is an old expression. “all that jazz.” wow…. Anyway, one thing that I love about the laptop is that it is kind of built like a MacBook where everything in it is condensed and everything is built in. For example, the headphones/microphone plug-in is only one outlet instead of the normal PC style were each thing has it’s own outlet. After I bought the laptop I was walking out of Best Buy and a clerk asked me if I had just bought the laptop that was under my arm, I said yes and show him my receipt (thinking that he thought I was trying to steal it) then he says well congratulations you get a free X-box 360. I was rather shocked and I walked out with a beautiful brand-new X-box 360. That was probably the highlight of the day.

Well I don’t really have anything else to include in this post so I guess I’ll just upload it and be done with it. Oh I will probably do a post the day before I leave saying goodbye to Eldora and New Providence and I am doing a… “grudge” post about a special person. I will post that the day that I leave because I don’t care once I leave. Well adios.
